Spring bulbs, we challenge anyone to dislike them!  They really mark the herald of a new season and now those clocks have changed, the colours really are popping! Spring flowers have been the inspiration for poetry (William Wordsworth) and art (Renoir, Monet, Gustav Klimt) for centuries – there have to be a few good reasons why!

Adding spring bulbs to the landscapes we manage is a great way to bring seasonal colour to the schemes, in fact we like them so much that we include 1000 free bulbs with every contract we win where the landscape can accommodate them, if landscapes are a little smaller we will always honour this addition in the quantity that is appropriate.

Incorporating spring bulbs into landscapes offers several benefits that enhance aesthetics, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.  For property managers and landscape managers the following points about why to incorporate spring bulbs are worth considering:

  1. Early-Season Visual Appeal

Spring bulbs provide early colour after dormant winters, creating an inviting and vibrant landscape that enhances curb appeal for businesses, office parks, residential and retail premises.

  1. Low Maintenance & Cost-Effective

Once planted, bulbs require minimal upkeep.  Many varieties return year after year with little intervention, reducing landscape maintenance costs, and of course seed and multiply, bringing more and more colour.

  1. Extended Blooming Seasons

By selecting a variety of bulbs for example, snow drops, crocuses, daffodils, tulips and alliums, we can create a swathe of continuous colour from late winter until early spring.

  1. Biodiversity boosting

Bulbs such as hyacinths and alliums attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, promoting biodiversity in urban and commercial settings.

  1. Environmental Benefits

Bulbs help with soil erosion prevention, their root systems improve soil structure, and they require less water compared to traditional annual planting schemes.

  1. Enhances Brand Image

A well-maintained, colourful landscape creates a positive impression for customers, employees, and visitors, making properties more inviting.

  1. Seasonal Versatility

Spring bulbs can be combined with perennials, shrubs, and ornamental grasses for a dynamic, multi-seasonal display that enhances the landscape beyond spring.

Planting of bulbs to create schemes that bring impact happens in October annually.  What would you like to see in your landscapes this time next year?  Now is the time to plan in preparation for autumn planting and then an even bigger explosion of colour in Spring 2026!
